Hancock Co., Miss. Sept. 16, 2024 – The 22nd Annual Swing for the Cause Golf Tournament will tee off on Tuesday, Oct. 1st at noon at The Bridges Golf Course at Hollywood Casino.  This is the premiere fundraiser for the Hancock County Community Development Foundation.  Known locally simply as “The Foundation,” this organization was established in May of 2006 in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina to act as an umbrella organization for 20 non-profit causes for projects with a broad community focus.

“Supporting Swing for the Cause makes an impact on over 20 local community service efforts,” said Ray Wesson, President of the Hancock County Community Development Foundation.

The defending champions from the 2023 tournament are:

1st – Chiniche Engineering & Surveying

2nd – Hancock Whitney

3rd – Chemours

Since its inception, the Foundation has been a conduit to receive over $7 million in grants and donations to sponsor and support educational and community programs that stimulate job creation, foster small business growth and support workforce development.  It not only helps small businesses, but also supports citizens with a passion for community causes like education, public parks, beautification and programs that nurture youth and leadership in the community.

Registration for golfers and sponsors are now open.  Golfers may register for $125 per person or $500 for a team of 4, which includes greens fees, 18 holes, cart, refreshments on the course, lunch and the awards reception.  Sponsorships start at $300 for a hole sponsorship.  Players and sponsors can register online at http://hancockchamber.org.
