About 2024 President, Ray Wesson

A native of Ocean Springs and now a resident of Waveland, Ray brings a wealth of experience and dedication to this vital role.

With a remarkable 30-year career in banking, Ray currently serves as the Market President for BankPlus, showcasing his leadership and financial acumen. His commitment to community service is unparalleled, as evidenced by his active involvement in various organizations. Ray is involved in Gulf Coast Community Ministries, Homes of Grace, MS Gulf Coast YMCA, Southern Mississippi Planning and Development District, Special Olympics, and Habitat for Humanity. He also serves on the Board of Directors for the Salvation Army and on the Hancock County Port & Harbor Commission.

Ray was awarded the John R. Blossman Humanitarian Award from the MS Gulf Coast YMCA. This prestigious award honors individuals who prioritize their fellow citizens and dedicate their lives to positively impacting others.

Past President Wendy McDonald said, “Ray has been an outstanding board member.  We are confident that his leadership will further elevate the organization’s impact on the community.”

“We would also like to thank our outgoing board members, Dr. Paula Triche and John Wiebmer, for their years of service to the Foundation and the community,” she added.  “We are forever grateful for their hard work and dedication to our mission.”

Wesson resides in Waveland with his wife, Morgan.  They have 5 children and 5 grandchildren.

The Hancock Chamber of Commerce is a membership organization made up of businesses throughout the Mississippi Coast to promote the social, civic, and economic well-being of Hancock County.  The Chamber established the Hancock County Community Development Foundation in 2006.  It is a 501(c)(3) public charity that serves as a funding conduit for projects with a broad community focus to support job creation, small business growth and workforce development.
