The Hancock County Port and Harbor Commission is pleased to announce Point Eight Power, Inc. as Hancock County’s 2024 Industry of the Year. This prestigious award will be presented at the Hancock Chamber of Commerce’s Salute to Business & Industry Awards Gala, scheduled for Thursday, August 29th at 5:30 p.m. at Hollywood Casino Gulf Coast. Point Eight Power is part of the Mission Critical Group and operates a sister plant in Belle Chasse, Louisiana.They are a renowned manufacturer of power distribution systems serving clients all over the globe in a variety of land- and marine-based industries. The company cut the ribbon on their new manufacturing plant in Hancock County in March of this year, marking a significant corporate investment of nearly $7.75 million. This new facility is expected to generate 78 direct jobs, bolstering the local economy and offering new opportunities for the community.

Point Eight Power has been a cornerstone in the power distribution industry since its founding in 1950. The company specializes in manufacturing generator controls, switchgear, and power control building packages, providing custom-designed electrical control and distribution systems to a variety of sectors, including chemical, critical power, marine, and oil and gas.

Blaine LaFontaine, CEO of the Hancock County Port and Harbor Commission, expressed his enthusiasm for the project: “Our Commission acquired this property in 2021 that had been vacant for nearly 10 years and invested $750,000 to rehabilitate the production facility and attract new industry and jobs to Hancock County. We are proud to add Point Eight Power as a tenant to Port Bienville Industrial Park.”

The recognition of Point Eight Power as Hancock County’s 2024 Industry of the Year underscores the company’s significant contributions to the local economy and its commitment to growth and excellence in manufacturing.
