Hancock Co., Miss. Sept. 24, 2020 – 2020 may have taken our Gala, but it will NOT take away our awards! Nominations are open for 2020 Outstanding Citizens and Businesses of the Year now through October 2nd.
Anyone may nominate a business or individual for these honors. Outstanding Citizen nominees must live or work in Hancock County and have a proven track record of doing things to improve the community. Nominees for Business of the Year must demonstrate excellence in their field or industry, a commitment to the community and have a record of leadership. All those nominated will be considered, unless they have been recognized previously. Business of the Year nominees must be Hancock Chamber members in good standing. A list of previous winners is available at http://hancockchamber.org.
The Top 10 Outstanding Citizens and Business of the Year Finalists will be announced the week of October 12th. Members of the Hancock Chamber will then vote for Citizen of the Year and Business of the Year for Bay St. Louis, Diamondhead, Waveland and Kiln/Hancock County starting on October 15th and ending October 30th.
Instead of recognizing the Top 10 Outstanding Citizens and Businesses of the Year at what would have been our 42nd Annual Salute to Business & Industry Awards Gala, winners will be presented digitally throughout the month of November, which will become “Un-Gala Month.” Businesses of the Year will be announced the week of November 23rd as the kick-off to the Shop Small campaign. The month-long recognition will culminate in the City of Bay St. Louis Christmas Parade, on Saturday, Nov. 28th where the Top 10 Outstanding Citizens and Businesses of the Year will ride in floats with the Citizen of the Year in the royal spot on top.
Nominations may be submitted online at http://hancockchamber.org. The links to the nomination forms are on the left side bar.
